Hypnotherapy is a technique using guided relaxation and visualization to explore issues and find ways to transform self-defeating patterns. I often use it in conjunction with Coherence Therapy and somatic work. Since symptoms usually are held in the body, it’s important to address the related muscle tension, bodily sensation, or posture.
I first guide you inward to discover what is driving your unwanted symptom. This is likely an emotional learning from a past experience that you are unaware of. As much as you try to instill a positive experience to counteract it, the unwanted symptom will continue to show up. This is because the old emotional learning is still true for you.
Next we take steps to clear out the unwanted symptom. This can happen in many ways, and can be a very creative process. What’s important is to replace the old emotional learning with a new one that feels more true to you now. As you embody this new, updated learning, the old emotional learning will no longer feel right. This is when the unwanted symptom is released.
