As I noted in my last blog, perfectionists have a very hard time making decisions. Needing to find the one and only decision can be a severe block to making any decisions at all. I encouraged flexibility and a willingness to modify a decision when circumstances change.
But what if you want to make a complete about face regarding a decision? Not just make an adjustment, but change it altogether.
I suggest asking yourself these questions:
Are you bending under pressure, or do you feel deep down inside that the change is the best thing to do?
Are you resisting the change because it will hurt your pride, when you know it’s the better decision?
Are you compromising yourself in a way that you will be taken advantage of, or is it a healthy compromise that benefits everyone?
If you asked a wise person whose opinion you trust, what would he or she suggest you do?
Decisions can be difficult. Saying yes to something means saying no to something else, and vise versa. And when the decision affects other people, they need to be taken into consideration. But remember, not making a decision is also making a decision, so do your best, and ease up on your need to make the perfect decision.
Until next time….
